- Born near Chicago, raised in Milwaukee, I am a thirty-five year resident of San Diego, except for a few years when the Marine Corps sent me other places like Vietnam, Okinawa, Oklahoma, Virginia, Hawaii (somebody had to do it), and North Carolina. What got me interested in writing about the Southwest and Indian legends? Leaphorn or Chee? Geronimo, Cochise? Gene Autry? Tonto? All of them, and I hope my love for those characters comes through in my work.
